Claire Lorenzo

Claire Lorenzo is a Portland-based indie rock singer-songwriter, known for lush, harmony-driven arrangements and soaring vocals.

Her sound nods to the grandeur of Florence & the Machine, the timeless mystique of Stevie Nicks, and the textured rhythms of early-aughts indie bands like Local Natives, Beach House, and Beirut. Her additional sonic influences include 50s girl groups, 60s bebop jazz, and 70s Laurel Canyon folk-rock.

Originally from New Jersey and trained in New York City, Claire has been writing, singing, and performing on trumpet and guitar since her early teens. She began her music career as a solo artist in 2013, before founding two New York-based indie rock bands, Circles/Waves and Best Baby. After relocating to Portland in 2021, Claire founded her current project, Shore Pines, which has earned nominations from the PNW Music Awards for Indie Album of the Year and Best Music Video.

Claire’s songs are cinematic yet intimate, balancing nostalgic influences with contemporary indie energy. She looks forward to writing a second album with Shore Pines as well as releasing her first solo EP in 2026.

Shore Pines

Shore Pines takes a glitchy, jazz-inflected approach to aughts-era indie rock. Their songs feature twinning guitar and trumpet riffs, warm synths, and whirling female vocals. Having spent the last two years in a flow of indie nostalgia and galactic sounds, the band released their debut album, Loom, on May 2nd, 2025.

In the first breaths of post-pandemic life, the members of Shore Pines—all recent Portland transplants—met as strangers and started making music. The project began with several demos sketched out by lead singer Claire Lorenzo, who’d recently moved to the Pacific Northwest from Brooklyn, New York. The demos were hooky and steeped in a ’00s-era indie ethos. As the band slowly assembled its permanent members, Lorenzo’s songs became even more lush and three-dimensional. Over the next couple years, Shore Pines added new songs to their setlist, solidified their layered sound, began playing around town, and got to work making their first album. Loom was recorded in March 2024 at The Hallowed Halls in Portland’s Foster-Powell neighborhood. It was engineered, produced, and mixed by the Grammy-winning John Davis of The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, New York. Loom was released on May 2, 2025, and is now streaming on all platforms.
